DE LA MORA’S Signature Medical Interpreter Training® is a 40 hour course designed to provide bilingual individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to work as professional Medical Interpreters. This is DE LA MORA’s signature curriculum, learn the proven methods that make us a nationally recognized name in interpreter training. This program is available to speakers of all languages and meets the education requirements needed for the national medical interpreter certification.
- The interpreter as a conduit and cultural broker
- Code of Ethics and standards of practice
- Introduction to modes of interpretation methods and practice
- Medical terminology, body systems and general anatomy
- Medical certification process: NCBMI vs CCHI
Only 14 students will be accepted into the program
Content will be presented in a hands-on format, allowing participants to practice their interpreting skills, assess their progress and discuss ethically challenging situations common to the field. Participants must pass a final exam in order to receive a Certificate of Proficiency in Medical Interpreting. This course fulfills the 40-hour education prerequisite required for the national medical interpreter certification. All study materials are included in this course.
