Interpreters working in the courts must be aware of and abide by a code of ethics consistently. In this course, participants analyze real situations and measure them against established interpreter codes of ethics. The discussion is sure to get lively! Participants can expect to come away with a fuller understanding of their ethical responsibilities. Open to legal interpreters of all experience levels; especially recommended for certified interpreters seeking to fulfill Ethics Continuing Education requirement.

James Plunkett/ Federally Certified Interpreter
James W. Plunkett, III is a nationally-known interpreter and instructor. He also trains new judges and court staff on how to work with court interpreters. He is certified by the AOUSC as a Spanish and English court interpreter. He is a rater for a national credentialing program for interpreters. He worked as a court interpreter for the 13thJudicial Circuit in Florida for seven years and became a senior interpreter there in 1998. Since 2008, he has taught interpreting skills and FCICE-preparation courses online through De la Mora Interpreter Training. He speaks and trains at state court interpreter programs nationwide. He holds a BA degree in General Social Studies from Providence College. He was raised in Lima, Peru. He also communicates in Portuguese, some French and basic American Sign Language.
