Remote Medical Interpreting

I teach Spanish Medical Interpreting to students at Brigham Young University in Utah. The class is like any other medical interpreter training except with lots of language-specific practice. Many of my students are pre-med and would like to interpret in the time they have before medical school, but very few end up doing what it takes to get a job as fast as they would need to. I'm able to offer a lot more video remote opportunities to them than in-person jobs.

For those of you who do video remote medical interpreting, would you recommend the job to a pre-med student on their gap year? What do you wish you knew when getting this job? Is it something you'd only do if you were able to keep at it / work your way up for multiple years?
