Hello Interpreters,

I would like to introduce myself: my name is Claudia Eslava and I am the Media Director for DE LA MORA Interpreter Training. I have been part of the DE LA MORA team fpr a little over two years, in which I have learned a great amount about the world of interpretation.  My work for DLMIT has been to help increase our online footprint. This means more access to online classes, webinars, downloadable materials, a user-friendly website, blogs, podcasts, and better social media.  Another important part of my job is to listen to you, the student/interpreter, and the challenges you might come across in terms of education and career.  Then I, alongside my team, come up with strategies that will hopefully bring better solutions to meet those needs.

Fast forward to the launch of this membership program and the result is a culmination or the coming together of all of those moving parts. This membership is an effort to solve the top issues that working interpreters face today.  So what is this membership? The membership is many things: A place where legal (for now) interpreters will have the ability to take the classes they need for continued education credits, a place where you’ll be able to take live monthly webinars directly from the best instructors in the field, a space to network and to openly discuss pressing issues anonymously or not, as well as a tool where a library of educational resources can be found.  Also everyone, including the free level members, will be able to keep track of their credits and designated deadlines.

Agustin de la Mora, the founder of this company and current president, first began with a vision to help interpreters prepare for their jobs. Although many changes have taken place in this field,  he still sees a void for practical tools that interpreters desperately need. But today, on the company’s 20th anniversary, we hope to bring interpreters a new approach to education and what we hope is a helpful solution.

Everyone here at DE LA MORA has worked tirelessly to put together this membership program. So a big thank you to Katie McKay and all the wonderful interns that helped us make this membership a reality.
