This is DE LA MORA’s Signature Court Interpreter Program to help prepare Mandarin speakers to become state certified. This comprehensive course will go over the Weightlifting Methods© which is a set of rules for better practice and self-evaluation or the key aspects needed to improve interpreting performance. As well as an overview of the judicial system, key terminology, introduction to the three modes of interpretation and language specific practice with an Chinese instructor.
This is a Live online course meaning students will be able to interact with the instructor and peers in an online environment via user-friendly software. Our live Online platform can be accessed through laptops, computers, cellphones, iPads and/or Android tablets. Also, all class sessions will be recorded and made available for review or study purposes within 24 hours.
Haven’t taken an online class before? Don’t worry! A separate orientation will take place to make sure everyone is comfortable accessing and using the technology. Students also have the full support of our staff to answer questions and be a helping hand.

About Instructors:
Feng Zhou, a native of Shanghai, has over 31-year teaching experience including teaching English at public schools for 10 years in Shanghai. After coming to the U.S. in 1990, he taught Chinese 13 years at Haddam-Killingworth High School, Miss Porter’s School, and University of Hartford. Feng has been teaching Legal Interpreting course since 2006 at Boston University Center for Professional Education. Feng is the founder of Chinese Interpreters and Translators, providing interpreting and translating services as well as language and cross-cultural communication trainings for businesses, schools and government agencies since 1996. Feng is a court certified interpreter and interprets yearly over 500 court proceedings for the State of Connecticut, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as well as the U.S. District Court. Feng is also a Subject Matter Expert enlisted by the National Center for State Courts to evaluate consortium state court interpreters for their certification. Feng holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Linguistics from Shanghai International Studies University and a Master of Arts degree in East-Asia Studies from Central Connecticut State University.
Carola E Green, BS in Communication, federally certified English/Spanish court interpreter and former California state court interpreter is originally from Guatemala. She served as key staff for the Federal Court Interpreter Certification Examination (FCICE) and the Consortium for Language Access in the Courts (CLAC) programs at the National Center for State Courts. She has over twenty years of experience in professional interpreting in the legal and medical fields. Carola also has extensive experience in developing interpreter training curricula, teaching and training interpreters, and all aspects of interpreting test development, test administration, and test rating activities.
